John Pope & John Garner celebrate the release of their new album 'Water Music' (coming out on New Jazz and Improvised Music Recordings), which pays tribute to the pioneering 'new thing' artists of the sixties and beyond, including Ornette Coleman, Alice Coltrane, Anthony Braxton, Jeanne Lee and Misha Mengelberg. The duo's highly interactive and spontaneous approach, foregrounding improvisation and an insatiable joie de vivre, demonstrates the adaptability of these compositions and this music in general.
